Say: "I’m only a man like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is one God! So, whoever hopes to meet his Lord, let him do righteous work and not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord."

History of the Mosque

1992: As there is no place of worship for Muslims in Plateau, the business district of Abidjan, the economic and former political capital of Côte d'Ivoire, the Muslim community obtains from authorities the right to pray in the uncovered car park of the Town Hall, where worshippers are exposed to bad weather.

1993: Our late President of the Republic, HE Mr Félix HOUPHOUET BOIGNY (Peace be upon him) grants a site to the Muslim community for the construction of a mosque in Plateau.

1994: The foundation stone ceremony of the Mosque of Plateau takes place in the presence of the former President of the Republic, HE Mr Henri Konan BEDIE.

1996: The construction work on the Mosque of Plateau starts thanks to donations from the Government of HE Mr Henri Konan BEDIE and diverse donors, prestigious, known or anonymous.

1999: Work stops due to shortage of funds.

2007: Creation of The Fundraising and Supervising Committee for the Completion of the Work on the Mosque of Plateau, chaired by Mr Feh KESSE.

With the allocation authorized by the former President of the Republic, HE Mr Laurent GBAGBO, the resumption of work enables the laying of flagstones on the esplanade, the tiling and the painting of the prayer hall, and the erection of the fence

However, significant work remains to be done to complete this religious building dedicated to the glory of Allah, The Most High.

Thanks to its location, capacity and multipurpose functions, this Mosque, which is an Islamic complex, will contribute to the promotion and spread of Islam in Côte d'Ivoire and in the subregion of West Africa, once the work has been completed.
